To support implementation of the new CBI Rules that are expected to take effect October 1, 2006, the Department of Mental Health (DMH) will sponsor training in CBI III and CBI II in September.  Before I go further, let me acknowledge and apologize for the late notice.  We started working on this in January and it was not until July that we had a qualified vendor response to our RFP.  Please note that a contract has still not been executed but we expect to do so shortly. 

 

We are planning to hold training on September 12, 13, 14, 18, 19 and 20.  Clinicians must attend all six sessions in order to be certified. 

 

This training is open to all current CBI providers as well as currently certified children’s providers who would like to apply for CBI certification.  There are two important points:

 

1.      All CBI II and CBI III providers at the practitioner level and their clinical supervisors should attend this training in order to be trained in the CBI model.  This is consistent with the new CBI standards, which will become rules sometime in the fall. 

 

2.      DMH is currently reconsidering the moratorium on certification for providers of children’s services who would like to add CBI to their current service taxonomy.  Those providers should attend this training.   

 

The first session, September 12, will be an overview of services, philosophy and fidelity.  This session can serve as an overview for administrators and agency partners who want to learn about the model at a general level.
