The Saint Elizabeths Hospital 6th Annual Summer Concert Series is in full swing with the next performance at 7 pm, Thursday, July 12, featuring Earth, Wind and Fire (Tribute Band). Open to the public, the free concerts showcase a variety of music, including jazz, classical, Top 40, and the District’s own Go-Go. The concerts take place at 7 pm every Thursday through August 31 on the Hospital grounds, 1100 Alabama Ave SE, near the Alabama Avenue Metro Station.
The summer concert series celebrates Saint Elizabeths pioneer role in music and dance therapy as a mechanism for healing and expression. More than 70 music therapists have been trained at the Hospital.
“The concerts are fun events that are part of the treatment and recovery process”, said Dr. Patrick Canavan, Chief Executive Officer at Saint Elizabeths. “We want individuals in our care to enjoy with family and friends the kind of events they might attend after they leave the Hospital.”
To maintain the privacy of individuals in care, cameras are not permitted on campus. Saint Elizabeths Hospital is a non-smoking campus.
