Washington, DC— The District of Columbia Department of Behavioral Health is sponsoring the Seventh Annual Olmstead Conference on May 27, 2015, from 10 am to 2 pm, at the Kellogg Conference Hotel at Gallaudet University, 800 Florida Avenue NE.
Co-sponsored with the District of Columbia Office of Disability Rights, the conference theme is “Self-directed care as part of the recovery process.” Consumers of mental health services and their families, advocates and behavioral health care providers are expected to participate.

The Office of Disability Rights is responsible for developing the Olmstead Plan which establishes certain goals of the District to ensure that community-based treatment is provided to persons with disabilities, when such treatment is appropriate. The Department of Behavioral Health is working with other government agencies and community partners to implement the Olmstead Community Integration Plan.
