Wednesday, October 8, 2008
Sponsored by the DC Department of Mental Health Community Services Agency and its Mental Health Advisory Board Collaborative, the race will benefit people with differing abilities.

Registration is now open for the 15th Annual 5K Race for Mental Health on Saturday, November 1, 2008, in Rock Creek Park, 16th and Kennedy Streets, NW. You can register on line at www.active.com or on site the day of the race.  It is a certified race.

Sponsored by the DC Department of Mental Health Community Services Agency and its Mental Health Advisory Board Collaborative, the race will benefit people with differing abilities. The race begins at 9 am and includes a one mile walk. On site registration opens at 8 am.

Participants should come to the Fitzgerald Tennis Center, at l6th and Kennedy Streets, NW, to check in and pick up race packets from 8 am—8:45 am.

“The run course provides a challenge for serious competitors but it’s not intimidating for those with less experience. Last year, a number of people registered for the one mile walk, but ran the 5K course instead. They felt great crossing the finish line,” said Steve Baron, Director of the Department of Mental Health.

You also can register at the DC Community Services Agency, 3700 10th Street, NW, Washington, DC.  Registration fees are $25 for the 5K run and $15 for the one mile walk. Registration for children 12 and under is $10.   Checks should be made payable to: "Citizens Advisory Board Region 3 – 4". Refreshments will be served after the race.

For more information, call John Graham, Race Coordinator, at (202) 576-5136.
