Department of Mental Health Seeks Child Associates for Early Intervention Program

The District of Columbia Department of Mental Health is recruiting qualified individuals with experience working with children, preferably in a school setting, for part-time, paraprofessional child associate positions. A child associate works under the supervision of a mental health professional in the Primary Project, an early intervention program in public schools to identify and address social or emotional needs of children with school adjustment difficulties.The Primary Project operates in 16 public schools in kindergarten and first grade, and a child associate works a minimum of 18 hours per week at assigned schools.

The Mental Health Department will answer questions about the job and receive resumes from 1 pm to 3 pm, Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 821 Howard Road SE, conference room 212. Applicants also can submit a resume by fax to (202) 698-2466 or by email to [email protected]. The deadline for submitting an application is 5 pm, September 21, 2010. 

In addition to relevant work experience, applicants must have a high school diploma and demonstrate reading and writing skills. All applicants will be subject to a criminal background check.
