Department of Mental Health Saint Elizabeths Hospital 4th Annual Summer Concerts Series Ends

Friday, August 20, 2010
The Evens Band rocks last performance on August 31.

Final performances in the Saint Elizabeths Hospital 4th Annual Summer Concert Series are scheduled for August 24 and August 31.  Blue Ridge Rain, a high energy modern country/rock band based in Winchester VA, will perform on August 24. The Evens, composed of local musicians Ian MacKaye (formerly with Fugazi and Minor Threat) and Amy Farina (formerly with The Warmers) will close out the series on August 31. Free and open to the public, the concerts will take place at 7 pm on the hospital grounds, 1100 Alabama Avenue, SE, near the Alabama Avenue Metro Station.

Held every Tuesday since June, the concerts showcase a variety of music, including jazz, country, classical, rock, Top 40 and much more.

“We look forward to enjoying the concerts with our family, friends and neighbors,” said Dr. Patrick Canavan, Chief Executive Officer at Saint Elizabeths. “It’s also a good way to celebrate music therapy as a mechanism for healing and expression.”
