Department of Behavioral Health Hosts a 5K Walk and Rally for Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day on May 14

(Washington, DC)— On Saturday, May 14, 2016, the District of Columbia Department of Behavioral Health is sponsoring the Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day 5K Walk and Rally to raise awareness about youth mental wellness. Co-sponsored with other District government child-serving agencies, the Walk and Rally will promote available services to support children, youth and their families.

The event is free and open to the public.

Walk Origin: Eastern High School Football field, 1700 East Capitol Street NE
Enter Eastern High School from the football field entrance on 17th  Street or 19th Street
Rally: Hillcrest Recreation Center, 3100 Denver Street SE
Enter the Hillcrest Recreational Center from the Denver Street entrance

Walk Route:  The scenic route goes down Pennsylvania Avenue, across the Anacostia River, through one of DC's most beautiful neighborhoods, and ends at  the Hillcrest Recreation Center.

Directions driving: From East Capitol St NE, turn left onto 17th Street NE.

Closest Metro to Eastern High School: Stadium Armory Metro Station
