The DC Stabilization Center, located at 35 K Street NE, helps adults experiencing a substance use crisis. The Center emphasizes individual safety and harm reduction to reduce potential harms associated with intoxication, including overdoses, injuries, and unnecessary interactions with the criminal justice system.

- Location and Hours: Located at 35 K Street NE, Washington, DC 20001, the Center operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- Eligibility and Cost: Services are free for individuals 18 and older, with no insurance or residency requirements. All services are voluntary.
- Process Upon Arrival and Services Offered:
- A patient care technician will meet you in the waiting room to ensure you are medically safe to receive services and begin the intake process.
- Staff will secure your personal belongings in individually assigned storage bins.
- You will receive a medical garment (scrubs) as a change of clothes.
- You can settle into a recliner or bed in a comfortable, quiet setting to begin stabilization.
- Staff will perform a comprehensive nursing and behavioral health assessment.
- Staff will provide you with food or snacks, access to restrooms and showers, laundry services, and other supports.
- During your stay, you will have the opportunity to meet with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, medical providers, certified peer recovery specialists (individuals with lived substance use experience) and counselors to discuss recovery, your needs, and linkages to services for when you leave.
- Facility Capacity: The Center accommodates up to 22 individuals simultaneously, with 16 recliners for stays up to 23 hours, and 6 beds for stays up to 72 hours for those needing extended observation.
- Pathway to Long-Term Recovery: The Center provides referrals and placements into short and long-term care options, connecting individuals to ongoing substance use disorder treatment at DBH-certified provider locations across Washington DC.
