The Saint Elizabeths Hospital 7th Annual Summer Concert Series is in full swing with the next performance at 7:00 pm, Thursday, July 11, featuring “Mystic Warriors.” Open to the public, the free concerts showcase a variety of music, including jazz, hip hop, rock and roll, Andean music, and the District’s own Go-Go. The concerts take place at 7:00 pm, every Thursday through August 29, 2013, on the Hospital grounds, 1100 Alabama Ave SE, near the Congress Heights Metro Station.
The summer concert series celebrates Saint Elizabeths’ pioneer role in music and dance therapy as a mechanism for healing and expression. “The concerts are fun events that are integrated with our treatment and recovery process”, said Dr. Patrick Canavan, Chief Executive Officer at Saint Elizabeths.
“Individuals in our care can enjoy with family and friends the kind of events they might attend after they leave the Hospital,” added Steve Baron, Director, District of Columbia Department of Mental Health which operates Saint Elizabeths.
To maintain the privacy of individuals in care, cameras are not permitted on the Hospital campus. All visitors must present a government-issued photo ID for entry to the campus.
