Fear of mental illness is the main reason people do not get help. In the case of children and youth, their own fears and those of their parents can result in tragedy. The DC Department of Mental Health School Mental Health Program is sponsoring four town hall meetings at District churches so families can learn about handling behavior problems, how to tell if their child is depressed and how to access mental health services. Howard University psychologist Dr. Donna Barnes will lead the discussions. Participants also will receive dinner and door prizes. Childcare will be provided.
