The District of Columbia Department of Mental Health is accepting applications for part-time, child associate positions for its Primary Project program. The Primary Project is an early intervention and prevention initiative to reduce social, emotional and school adjustment difficulties and to enhance school related competencies. Evaluation studies show that the Primary Project helps children become more productive in school.
A child associate works a minimum of 25 hours per week at assigned schools or child development centers. Under the supervision of a mental health professional, a child associate works closely with parents and teachers. An applicant must have a high school diploma and experience working with children—preferably in a school setting—and demonstrate reading and writing skills. A criminal background will be conducted.
Resumes must be emailed to J’Wan Griffin, Program Manager, at [email protected] or faxed to (202) 698-2466. All resumes must be received by 5 pm, September 26, 2011. For more information about the Child Associate position, contact J’Wan Griffin at (202) 698-2469.
