DMH Seeks Applications for Manager of Independent Mental Health Community Residential Facility Emergency Preparedness Project

The District of Columbia Department of Mental Health has issued a Notice of Funding Availability to support emergency preparedness of independent mental health community residential facilities through the installation of emergency standby generators. The Mental Health Department also issued a Request for Applications to identify an intermediary to manage the application and selection process. The Mental Health Department licenses mental health community residential facilities to provide group housing for individuals with serious mental illnesses who are not able to live independently. To help ensure the safety and continuity of care for individuals who live in the homes, the Department will fund emergency standby generators for seven to ten facilities in FY 13.  All licensed independent community residential facilities in good standing are eligible to apply. Application criteria will include financial need, history of power outages in the home and the neighborhood, proof of ownership of the property and/or evidence of a long-term lease on the property/permission of home owner.

DMH is seeking a housing improvement and/or housing finance intermediary with demonstrated experience in the administration of housing development, construction or improvement projects in the District to manage the project. After the intermediary is selected, operators of independent mental health community residential facilities will be notified of the application process.

Applications are due by 4:30 pm, Friday, March 15, 2013. Completed applications can be submitted by email to [email protected] provided that required documents are signed and scanned. Applications also can be mailed or hand delivered to Department of Mental Health attn: Dr. Kevin O’Brien, 64 New York Avenue NE 3rd floor, Washington, DC 20002. Mailed applications must be postmarked before midnight, March 12, 2013. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
